Maekar I Targaryen

Maekar I Targaryen was the fourth and youngest son of King Daeron II, and the fourteenth of his house to sit the Iron Throne. He was a hard, stern man and a formidable fighter, called Maekar the Anvil for the part his shield wall played at the Redgrass Field, and he spent much of his life measured against his elder brother Baelor and found wanting. He favoured a spiked mace over a sword and wore black armour bearing the three headed dragon four times over, with a sharp crown of black iron and red gold. He kept his household at the summer palace of Summerhall, where he raised four sons: Daeron, Aerion, Aemon and Aegon.
