Lhazar

Lhazar is a region of Essos lying east of Slaver's Bay and south of the Dothraki Sea, west and northwest of the red waste, and it is named in A Game of Thrones. Sandstone mountains divide it from Slaver's Bay, crossed by the Khyzai Pass, and the Skahazadhan river makes its northern border and runs through the pass to Meereen. Most of it is plain and low hill, good country for sheep. Its capital is Lhazosh, with Hesh and Kosrak its other cities of any size, linked by roads that run east across the waste to the Bone Mountains and southeast toward Qarth. Its people keep no standing armies and have no taste for war, which has earned them the name lamb men from the Dothraki, who raid their northern borders for slaves. They live in townships gathered about farms, flocks and a temple of the Great Shepherd, and their priestesses, called maegi, are said to command formidable powers if provoked.
