King's Landing
King's Landing is the city where the king of the Seven Kingdoms keeps his court, and home to the red castle the Dragonlords raised.
In Old Nan's telling, King's Landing hides ghosts, dungeons where terrible deeds took place, and dragon heads on the walls. Bran Stark shivers at the thought but is not afraid, since his father, soon to be Hand of the King, will be with him.
Viserys Targaryen was a boy of eight when he fled King's Landing ahead of the Usurper's armies, and in the tales he tells his sister Daenerys, the skulls of the last dragons gaze down from the throne room walls. King Robert, who sits the iron chair there, complains that the people never stop coming, each wanting money, land or justice, and he wants Ned Stark down there beside him.
