Jon Connington

Lord Jon Connington was the head of House Connington and the Lord of Griffin's Roost, and he served for a short while as Hand of the King to Aerys II Targaryen during the war that unseated that house. He grew up a squire in King's Landing and was one of the very few men Prince Rhaegar Targaryen counted a close friend, calling him his silver prince. In youth he was handsome and energetic, red of hair and blue of eye, a competent warrior and an aspiring commander, though Tywin Lannister judged him too young and too hungry for glory for the office he was given. He was ambitious and determined, well liked but arrogant, and greedy for the good opinion of his peers. His blunders in the fighting earned him scorn, and no one scorned him more than he did himself, knowing he had chosen glory over practicality and so failed both his king and his prince.
