Jeor Mormont
Jeor Mormont is the Lord Commander who leads the Night's Watch, a gruff old man with a huge bald head and a grey beard gone shaggy, who feeds corn to the raven perched on his arm.
Tyrion calls him the Old Bear. His Watch is badly shrunken: the order built nineteen great castles on the Wall, but only three are manned when Jon arrives, and Castle Black holds a tenth of its old garrison. His raven mutters for corn and repeats what it hears, crying Live when Jon learns that Bran will survive. After supper, by the fire, Mormont presses Tyrion to make the king and the Lannisters understand how badly the Watch needs men.
