Jaime Lannister is a knight of the Kingsguard, sworn to guard the king, a man whose hair shines as bright as beaten gold.

Tall and green-eyed, Ser Jaime Lannister rides into Winterfell with the royal party, twin to Queen Cersei, and his smile is sharp enough to cut. He wears crimson silk with tall black boots and a black satin cloak, and his tunic carries his house's lion, worked in thread across the chest.

To his face people call him the Lion of Lannister, but behind his back they whisper Kingslayer. Robb Stark insists that the man who killed the old mad king should not count among the heroes of the songs. When the queen protests at Winterfell that the travellers are tired, it is Jaime who quietly takes her arm, and she lets the matter drop.
