The High Lickspittle was the mocking name the Faith Militant hung on the High Septon raised in 44 AC, after his likable predecessor died. He was the third man to hold the office during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen and the first to hold it under King Jaehaerys I. In the eyes of his critics the name was earned by his refusal to speak a word against Maegor, and in open defiance of his rule a band of Poor Fellows crowned one of their own leaders, Septon Moon, as a rival to his high holiness.
