Harwyn Hoare, called Harwyn Hardhand, was a King of the Iron Islands and the first King of the Isles and Rivers. He came to the Seastone Chair third in line, and only after a hard schooling abroad. In his youth he raided the Stepstones and saw Volantis, Tyrosh, Lys and Braavos, spent two years a captive in the Basilisk Isles, and sold his sword in the Disputed Lands with the Second Sons. He succeeded his father, King Qhorwyn Hoare, and turned at once on the Riverlands, then weakly held by the Storm King.
