Harlaw is one of the Iron Islands, ruled by House Harlaw from the seat of Ten Towers, and it is named in A Game of Thrones among the holdings of the ironborn. Second largest of the islands, it is the wealthiest and the most densely peopled, its mines yielding lead, iron and tin and its shaggy ponies used throughout the archipelago. Its forests were felled long ago for shipbuilding. Harlaw lies a day's sail northeast of Pyke, southeast of Orkmont and Blacktyde, and across the Ironman's Bay from Banefort.
