Grey King
The Grey King is a legendary ruler from the Age of Heroes, claimed as forefather by the Greyjoys of Pyke and said to rule the western isles and the sea itself and to take a mermaid to wife.
Ironborn lore holds that he slew Nagga, the first and mightiest of sea dragons, and that the Drowned God turned her bones to stone. Her ribs became the pillars of his longhall on Old Wyk and her jaws his throne, and there, in the dawn of days, he reigned a thousand years and seven, robed in woven seaweed beneath a crown of Nagga's teeth. Only the stone ribs remain, and the ironborn gather beneath them to choose their kings.
