Garth Greenhand is a gardener king of legend among the First Men, crowned with flowers and vines and said to make the land bloom, and many great houses of the south claim him as forefather.
The Tyrells trace their line to him through the female side, though they first rose as stewards serving the old kings of the Reach. Lady Olenna scoffs that half the noble houses of the south, Florents, Rowans and Oakhearts among them, can claim the same, since Garth, by the tales, liked to sow his seed in fertile ground.
