The eleventh child of King Jaehaerys I and Queen Alysanne Targaryen, born early in 73 AC and named for Gaemon the Glorious.
Late in the year 73 AC, after a hard labour, Queen Alysanne Targaryen bore her eleventh child by King Jaehaerys I, and he came well before his time. Prince Gaemon Targaryen was named for Gaemon the Glorious, the best known of the lords of Dragonstone before the War of Conquest. A scrawny babe, half the size his brother Vaegon had been at birth, he died three months later.
