Edric Storm is a natural son of King Robert Baratheon, fostered far from court at Storm's End by Lord Renly's castellan.
Edric Storm is the boy Robert fathered on the night his brother Stannis married, when the king carried a Florent maiden off to bed during the wedding feast. Because the mother is highborn, Robert acknowledges the child, and, by Littlefinger's account, Stannis takes the affair as a stain on his wife's house and ships the baby off to his younger brother. Edric is said to look just like Robert, which is why Stannis calls him proof of a sort.
