Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys Targaryen is a princess of House Targaryen, born on Dragonstone in a raging summer storm and raised in exile across the narrow sea.
Daenerys Targaryen has spent nearly half a year with her brother Viserys in the house of Magister Illyrio, in Pentos, a free city, eating his food and waited on by his servants. At thirteen she is old enough to suspect that gifts like these have a price. Viserys has her bathed and dressed in a gown from Illyrio, so soft it runs through her fingers like water, to bring out the violet of her eyes, because tonight she must look like a princess at Khal Drogo's feast. She keeps her questions to herself, for his anger is what he calls waking the dragon.
Dany weds Khal Drogo on a field outside the walls of Pentos, under the open sky as the Dothraki require, and forty thousand of his warriors come to attend. Ser Jorah Mormont, an exile, has offered her brother his sword, and the khal has promised Viserys a crown. Dany thinks there are no more dragons, though she dares not say it aloud.
