Corlys Velaryon, known as the Sea Snake, is the Lord of the Tides on Driftmark, a mariner whose nine great voyages carry him farther than any other Westerosi has sailed.
His first voyage takes him past the Jade Gates as far as Yi Ti and Leng, and the spice, silk and jade he carries home make his house for a time the richest in the realm. On his second he becomes the first Westerosi to reach Asshai. Home from the sea at last, he weds Princess Rhaenys, the eldest grandchild of King Jaehaerys and his queen.
