Brynden Rivers

Ser Brynden Rivers, called Bloodraven, was a bastard son of King Aegon IV Targaryen and one of the Great Bastards, and The World of Ice and Fire records his service to the Iron Throne. An albino, he had milk-white skin, red eyes and a birthmark the colour of blood across his right cheek in the shape of a raven which gave him his name. Sunlight pained him, so he went cloaked and hooded. He was not so tall as his half-brothers Aegor Rivers and Daemon Blackfyre, but cleverer than either: a swordsman who carried the Valyrian blade Dark Sister, though his chosen weapon was a weirwood longbow, and the commander of the archers called the Raven's Teeth. He stood for the Targaryens through the Blackfyre rebellions, lost an eye at the Redgrass Field, and served as Master of Whisperers and Hand of the King to Aerys I and Maekar I. Cold and ruthless, he was among the most feared men in the realm.
