Brandon Stark is the eldest son of Lord Rickard Stark of Winterfell, the true heir of the family, born to rule.
Brandon, by Eddard Stark's account, always knew what to do, and everything was meant for him: Catelyn, the castle, all of it. In Eddard's words, Brandon had the makings of a King's Hand and of a father to queens.
Catelyn Tully was twelve when her father promised her to Brandon, and Eddard married her in his place, as custom decreed. In the crypt beneath the castle, Brandon's is one of two smaller sepulchres flanking his father's, with his sister Lyanna's on the other side.
