Bran Stark is a young son of Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell who rides out on his pony to see the king's justice carried out and comes home with a direwolf pup.
Riding between Robb and Jon Snow, he tries hard to look older than he is, and when a Night's Watch deserter is beheaded he keeps his eyes open, because Jon warns him their father will know if he looks away. Afterward his father explains that a Stark who passes sentence must wield the blade himself, and must take no pleasure in it.
