Braavos
Braavos is the greatest of the nine Free Cities, built across a hundred islands in a hidden lagoon guarded by the Titan, ruled by its Sealord and known in A Game of Thrones for its slender-bladed water dancers.
Hidden in a fog-bound lagoon at the northern end of the narrow sea, Braavos is the richest and most powerful of the nine Free Cities. A Game of Thrones, gives Westeros its first taste of the city through Braavosi swordsmanship and the boast of its Titan. Founded in secret eight centuries ago by refugees fleeing the Valyrian Freehold, Braavos is called the bastard daughter of Valyria, the city the dragonlords never found. The Titan, a colossus of stone and bronze, straddles the only channel into the lagoon, and the city within spreads across a hundred islets stitched together by canals and bridges. A Sealord rules it from his palace, its harbors sort foreign ships from Braavosi ones, and its bravos duel by night with slender blades; the finest swordsman of the city bears the title First Sword of Braavos.
