Bethany Bracken was a lady of House Bracken who caught King Aegon's eye on one of his trips to Stone Hedge, and he took her back to King's Landing with him. Her sister Barba had been the fifth of the king's mistresses and their father had served as Hand of the King, but both were displaced once Aegon came to prefer Melissa Blackwood. Lord Bracken trained Bethany for the express purpose of replacing Melissa.
