Lord Beric Dondarrion, the young Lord of Blackhaven, cuts a dashing figure. A marcher lord of the stormlands, whose seat guards the mountain passes of the Dornish Marches, he bears a sigil of forked purple lightning on a black field, and he comes to King's Landing for the great tourney held in the Hand's honor. There his red-gold hair, black courser, and easy gallantry win him admirers; Sansa Stark's friend Jeyne Poole is smitten at first sight. He is accounted a fine knight and a fair-minded young lord, bold and honorable, though as yet untested in war, and men mark him as one of the promising lords of his generation in the stormlands.
