Bellanora Otherys was the eldest of the three children born to King Aegon IV Targaryen by his fourth mistress, Bellegere Otherys, and the second woman to carry the name Black Pearl of Braavos. Whether Aegon fathered them is doubted, for Bellegere was said to keep a husband in every port. Bellanora became a courtesan, acclaimed by the singers of her day, and the tradition passed to her daughter after her.
