Balerion
Balerion the Black Dread is the greatest of the three dragons Aegon Targaryen and his sisters brought against the Seven Kingdoms, a black-winged beast whose huge skull Tyrion seeks out in King's Landing.
The singers give Balerion the name of a god, as they do Meraxes and Vhaghar, and his skull dwarfs both of theirs: the living beast could have gulped down an aurochs in one piece. The three are let loose together only once, at the battle the singers call the Field of Fire, where close to four thousand men burn. Songs say the thousand blades of the Iron Throne are softened in the heat of his breath.
