Artys Arryn was a knight of pure Andal blood, born in the shadow of the Giant's Lance. He bore a moon-and-falcon on his shield and wore a winged silver warhelm, which earned him the name of the Falcon Knight. He was reckoned one of the greatest warriors of his day, a master of sword, lance and morningstar, sharp of mind and a leader men followed gladly. He led the Andals to victory over the First Men at the Battle of the Seven Stars, was proclaimed King of Mountain and Vale, and founded the Andal dynasty in the Vale.
