The bookish second son of Daeron II, never meant to rule and happier with a parchment than a council.
Aerys I Targaryen was the second son of King Daeron II, and nobody expected him to rule. His elder brother Baelor was heir and Hand both. Aerys was a reader, bookish to the edge of absent mindedness, with red rimmed eyes from studying by poor light and clothes he forgot to change. He had a long straight face, thin hair, a thin moustache and a long pointed beard, and he was seldom seen without a book or a parchment to hand. He married Aelinor of House Penrose of Parchments in the stormlands. They had no children.
