Aenys I Targaryen

Aenys I Targaryen was the second king of the Targaryen dynasty to sit the Iron Throne, and his reign is chronicled in Fire and Blood. He was the son of Aegon the Conqueror by his sister-wife Rhaenys, and having lost his mother while very young he was raised largely by the servants of the Red Keep. He rode a dragon named Quicksilver. Aenys stood as tall as his father but was much softer of build and given to daydreaming, his eyes more lilac than purple, his hair curled and perfumed to his shoulders, his hands heavy with rings; he set aside his father's plain circlet for a large crown of gold. In youth he was charming and made friends easily, yet he was no warrior and was thought a poor successor to Aegon the Dragon, being nervous, eager to please and inclined to leave difficulties for other men to settle. His marriage to his wife Alyssa was a happy one and gave him six children.
