Aemond Targaryen is the second son born to Queen Alicent Hightower and King Viserys I, a bold and hot-tempered prince who claims the old dragon Vhagar for his own at the age of ten.
Alone among his brothers and sister he has no dragon, and when his father jests that he may pick one if he is bold enough, he creeps out at dawn on Driftmark to climb onto the great she-dragon himself.
