Aegor Rivers, called Bittersteel, was one of the Great Bastards of King Aegon IV Targaryen, born in 172 AC to Lady Barba of House Bracken. He grew very tall and built like a warrior, black haired and bearded, with the purple eyes of his father's house, and he rode in plain good armour under a horse head helm. His life was shaped by a grudge. When the king set Barba aside for Melissa Blackwood and Melissa bore him another son, Brynden, the old hatred between Bracken and Blackwood passed down to the two boys entire. Aegon legitimised all his bastards on his deathbed, and Aegor took for his arms a red stallion with black dragon's wings, snorting flame, on gold.
