Aegon IV Targaryen

Aegon IV Targaryen, whose reign is chronicled in The World of Ice and Fire, was the eleventh king of his dynasty to sit the Iron Throne. He was the eldest son of Prince Viserys, Hand of the King, and of Larra Rogare of Lys, and grew up in the Red Keep while his cousins Daeron I and Baelor I ruled. His mother returned to Lys while he was small and his father was consumed by the work of the Hand, so the boy came up with little supervision. In youth Aegon was strong and charming, a capable warrior though wholly outshone at arms by his brother Aemon. With age he grew immensely fat, wore a beard to hide his chins, and had a great new crown forged surmounted by four dragons. His appetites were boundless, and his temper hardened into jealousy and rage. He quarrelled endlessly with his sister-wife Naerys and with Aemon, and doted on his natural children rather than his trueborn heir Daeron.
