Aegon II Targaryen is the sixth king on the Iron Throne in the histories of Fire and Blood, eldest son of Viserys I, crowned ahead of his half-sister Rhaenyra in the dispute that opens the Dance of the Dragons.
The histories of Fire and Blood count Aegon II Targaryen as the sixth king to sit the Iron Throne of Westeros. He is the eldest son of King Viserys I by his second queen, Alicent Hightower, and half-brother to the princess Rhaenyra, whom their father names heir. Handsome and sullen, fonder of wine and pleasure than of duty, Aegon rides Sunfyre, held to be the most beautiful dragon ever seen in Westeros, and weds his sister Helaena in the manner of his house. When the Iron Throne next stands empty, the court party crowns Aegon ahead of his half-sister, and the rival claims split the realm into greens and blacks; the civil war that follows is remembered as the Dance of the Dragons, a war of dragon against dragon that divides the Seven Kingdoms down the middle.
