Aegon I Targaryen

Three centuries before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire, Aegon Targaryen sets out from Dragonstone to take a continent, and every book from A Game of Thrones onward stands in the shadow of what he builds; his full story is told in Fire and Blood. Born to the last dragonlord family to survive the Doom of Valyria, Aegon weds both his sisters, Visenya and Rhaenys, in the Valyrian manner and rides the greatest of living dragons, Balerion the Black Dread. He lands at the mouth of the Blackwater with a small host, three dragons, and a carved wooden map of Westeros that shows no borders. Six of the seven kingdoms bend the knee to him, by fire or by fealty, and he is crowned Aegon the Conqueror, first king on the Iron Throne, which is forged from the swords of his defeated enemies.
